Emmanuel Ndahimana Chairman
The Managing Director of SMGF Ltd , Mr. Emmanuel NDAHIMANA, is a professional Manager with a long with more than 30 years experience,
He is trained manager holding an MBA from Maastricht school of Management, with a specialization in corporate management strategies. He also has a long national and international experience in the financial sector industry. He has been BRD Managing Director, the African Development Bank Executive Director.
Mr Ndahimana,a former Ambassador of Rwanda, has also been a Minister of State for finance and Economic Planning where he actively participated in all the Economic reforms of Rwanda after 1994 Genocide. As a member of the Cabinet, he contributed to the efforts of economic transformation of Rwanda.
He became the first chairman of the Rwanda Investment Promotion Agency which later on became what is known today as the Rwanda development Board (RDB). Member of Parliament, he was the Vice Chairman of the Budget Commission of the Parliament until 2005.
He entered in the Private sector and became the Chairman of the Ecobank Rwanda.
He is a shareholder of SMGF ltd, an important player on the national financial market, contributing to promote SMEs and Microfinance institutions in Rwanda.
In 2004,He has been part of an international team that has drafted an evaluation of the financial sector of Rwanda, thus laying the foundations of the modernization of the capital markets of Rwanda .
In 2010, he was appointed by the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning of Rwanda, to sit on the Committee which has overseen the first IPO of Bralirwa, the first ever in the country. The IPO has been so successful that today it is presented as an example that will be emulated in future similar transactions.
Gilles Barchman CEO
Agricultural Engineer (UCL - 1990) and Executive Master in General Management (Solvay Business School – ULB - 2000), Gilles began his professional career in Canada in the Environment Vice-Presidency of Hydro-Quebec (www.hydroquebec.com), where he worked for three years on environmental impact assessments and environmental issues of large dams and right of ways. He then worked 12 years as Management Consultant, specialized in environmental management, sustainable development and renewable energy, for the Walloon Business Union (www.uwe.be) and as a partner in Comase Management Consulting (www.groupecomase.com). He developed his competences in contact with numerous SMEs, and with public corporations and European international organizations. He joined the XYLOWATT (www.xylowatt.com) management team in June 2005 and was appointed CEO in September 2006 until June 2012, raising the necessary funds to finance technological development and market positioning.
From 2012 to 2014, he managed several investment projects,mainly in the energy sector, including Nicaragua and Rwanda. In the latter, he was hired by the BTC (www.btcctb.org) to close an investment project of EUR 17 million, including a hydro powerplant, and was actively involved in the reorganization of the energy public sector.
In June 2015, with a Belgian friend Harold Mechelynck, he took an interest in the SMGF to contribute at the development of SME’s and the entrepreneurship. Concerned by issues of human development, particularly in Africa, environmental protection and energy transition, he is able to gather the resources and creativity to provide answers to the challenges presented. He is recognized by his peers for his strategic vision, managerial rigor and ability to move the lines and mobilize its employees to achieve results.
Prosper Ziganimbuga Financial Manager
Mr. Prosper ZIGANIMBUGA, MBA degree holder with specialization in Accounting and Finance from Maastricht School of Management, the Netherlands, former projects accountant of ISAR currently RAB up to 2010. Worked as Viced-Rector of Administration and Finance for INES-Ruhengeri, a private High Learning Institution until 2015 before joining SMGF Ltd as Admin.& Finance Manager dealing mainly with organizing the administration, managing finances including Business Plans analysis and financial projections for better performance of the institution.
Augustin Bimenyimana Accountant & Credit Manager
Our accountant and credit manager is a professional accountant with more than 5 years’ experience. He holds a BBA from Kabale University and a certificate in monitoring and evaluation from international Trainers in Uganda.
He worked as a financial controller and tax analysis in Trace Consultant Group from 2010 to 2012, he then joined us in 2013 as Administration and Finance Manager and he continued to participate and contribute towards the development of SMGF Ltd where he works in various departments. He is also the contact person of SMGF Ltd
Séverine Clause Technical Manager
Séverine has a diploma and a degree in Bio-engineer obtained in Gembloux Agro-Biotech. She has worked 2 years in East Africa and her last job brought her in the Ministry of Natural Resources in Rwanda.
From 2016, she is the technical manager of SMGF :
improving the quality management system and providing technical advice to develop Rwandan Agro-industry companies supported by SMGF
